Safari and HTML5

Last week Apple released a few new pages on Apple.com showcasing the abilities of HTML5 and CSS3. I believe there are 1 or 2 reasons for them doing this. 1. To show the way forward in (maybe taking a pop at flash) and 2. For the new upcoming Safari 5 web browser rumored to have a lot of new additional HTML5 and CSS3 features. (more…)

Last year I wrote a and some of the features that will be available including the video and canvas elements. The canvas element gives developers a powerful way to draw pixel-based images using JavaScript. For each element needed a “context” is used, which uses JavaScript commands to draw anything you want. The video element will allow direct embedding of videos on a web page without the need for any external plugins. (more…)
